What is FFT's Reading Assessment Programme?

FFT's Reading Assessment Programme is a simple and effective online assessment tool designed to assess pupils on their GPC Accuracy, Decoding Accuracy and Fluency Outcomes (Words Correct Per Minute).

Words Correct Per Minute outcomes inform Standardised Scores, Reading Attainment Levels and Reading Fluency Ages for Year 1 to Year 6 pupils.

For Reception pupils, Standardised Scores and Reading Attainment Levels are provided based on Decoding outcomes.

Instantly produced reports help you analyse data at whole-school, class, group or individual pupil level.

This makes it easy to identify those who need support—whether through whole-class teaching or keep-up/catch-up intervention.

      What schools are saying

Identifies areas we need to focus on

FFT’s Reading Assessment Programme (RAP) is easy to use and provides detailed data. High-quality training is available to support staff with carrying out and analysing the data. FFT’s RAP has enabled us to identify the areas we need to focus on, adapt our teaching in our review sessions and consolidation weeks. It also enables us to plan relevant interventions to support those children who are falling behind.

      Saved huge amounts of time

Using the phonics scheme and FFT’s Reading Assessment Programme, has saved huge amounts of time when completing assessments and it is easy to analyse data and identify gaps in children’s knowledge to inform next steps. At the end of each block, when there are consolidation lessons, this has been hugely beneficial to complete the assessments and give detailed feedback to the teachers informing them of gaps, misconceptions and to focus on these.
