FFT 2020 GCSE Statistical Subject Moderation — helping schools with KS4 TA predictions (May 2020)
IMPORTANT: The final deadline for submitting Teacher Assessed grades in FFT Aspire is Monday 1 June.
As you know, there will be no GCSE and A-level examinations this year and pupils’ results will instead be awarded using teacher assessment which inform a final grading process by the exam boards and Ofqual.
As part of your Aspire subscription, FFT will provide a new service for secondary schools in May to help you validate and benchmark KS4 teacher assessment predictions. All secondary schools will be able to submit their teacher predictions to FFT in early May (whole grades only with no ranks).
FFT will then provide a new ‘Statisical subject moderation’ report for all schools which analyses your predictions, factoring in FFT estimates and school subject performance in previous years. It will highlight any unusual subject level patterns which might merit further attention.
We hope this analysis will prove helpful as teachers and school leaders finalise their predictions for students. We will not make any suggestions on changes to individual grades for pupils – this is ultimately a decision for teachers and school leaders. This new report will be available in mid-May to allow enough time for schools to finalise their teacher predictions for the exam boards.
2020 FFT KS4 & KS5 Results Service (August 2020)
This year, the DfE and Ofsted will not provide schools with any analysis of performance at KS4 and KS5 and there will be no school performance tables or external accountability.
However, from our discussions with school leaders, schools have said that they would still welcome a full analysis of 2020 results in Aspire for internal use only (not for external accountability or performance management).
We are pleased to announce that FFT will be running a full 2020 Results Service in FFT Aspire. In August, the 2,500 secondary schools using FFT Aspire will be able to submit their KS4 and KS5 results once they are available from exam boards.
We will then process these results and provide all of the usual Aspire interactive analyses of 2020 attainment and value-added progress for KS4 and KS5, including Attainment/Progress 8, subject performance and how your schools’ results compare to national benchmarks. This will be available in September.
FFT estimates for Y7 and Y12 pupils (Sept 2020)
We are working with primary schools to deliver a similar Results Service at KS1 and KS2. As a result, we expect to be able to provide schools with estimates of future performance for pupils in Year 7 (as well as Year 12) in September.
With all FFT staff now working from home, you can contact our customer support team at any time by email (email@example.com) or by telephone from 9.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, on 01446 776262.

A big thank you!
Lastly, on behalf of everyone at FFT, a huge thank you to all school leaders, teachers and support staff for everything you are doing at the moment to help the national effort to manage coronavirus, particularly by keeping schools open to look after the children of key workers. We have seen first-hand the incredible commitment and dedication of staff in supporting all our children and young people, but particularly those who are most vulnerable.
